Y6 Leavers

Dear parents/carers,

As you know your children are leaving us at the end of the term, to move on to High School.  Whilst we know that things will not be the same as they would have been, it is very important to us that we mark this significant event with you, in the best way that we can.  I too have a Year 6 son Thomas.  He is in the same position as your children are.

About ten days ago I held a virtual meeting with our House and Vice House Captains.  We talked about our ideas for celebrating this special time with our children.

  1. Year 6 Leavers song – All children to take a video singing the song ‘Don’t Stop Believing’.  We will then take parts from each child and link each person together to form a lasting montage to keep forever. The children have already learnt this song and so it is familiar to them.

  1. KIng Eddie Awards – Children usually vote for each other for some silly categories of awards.  We have set up an online voting system using ‘kahoot.  This will allow all children to vote for the King Eddie awards.

  1. Leavers Picnic outside on the field –  This can only go ahead as an idea if the rules on outdoor gatherings evolve.  This could only happen if larger groups are allowed to meet outside in fresh air.  This would be a socially distanced picnic on the field for our children, ideally as one group.  Children would bring their own plate of food, due to COVID restrictions.

  1. ‘Then and now’ photos – We would like all parents to send in photos of their children when they were little.  These will be created into a video montage to share.

  1. Memories of King Eddies – We would like all children to make a video at home or in school, in their school uniform.  We would like them to share their favourite memory of King Eddies and what they will miss the most. We will put them all together to share and enjoy.

We have a few other things planned to mark the end of their time here.  But there needs to be a few surprises!

You will get contact about the things above over the coming week or so!

Take care and best wishes,
