Play at Out of School Club
Play is a massively important part of any child’s life and, all too often in the modern world, there are an increasing number of factors which limit a child’s play opportunities. Our OOSC provides children with the opportunity to play in a safe and secure environment with designated indoor and outdoor play spaces for older and younger club members. Staff support and facilitate play, planning optional structured activities in which children can choose to take part. Alternatively, children are encouraged to explore toys and games for themselves which encourages independence and a sense of ownership.
Examples of Play Opportunities
- Outdoor play
- Games consoles/tablets
- Arts and crafts
- Board games
- Air hockey (full sized table)
- Table football
- Breakfast - Children receive toast / cereal / fresh fruit and juice / milk / water
- After school - Children receive a snack as soon as they get to the club after school. This might be ham and cheese wraps / milk and cookies / cheese and crackers / veg sticks. Fresh fruit, milk and water is also available all evening.
During holiday club, we arrange some visit days out for the children to places like Adventure Valley, South Shields, the beach, Ridley Park, Northumberland Park, Alnwick Gardens, crazy golf and the Sealife Centre. We advertise which days these trips will be in the run-up to holiday club.
Above all, the club is a FUN place to be where children meet up with their friends and have a good time!
