Careers
The teaching of Careers at King Edward Primary School aims to provide children with opportunities to widen their experiences of life and enhance their ambition for the future. We encourage children to think about a variety of employment areas and opportunities and link it to the subjects they are currently learning in school. We want children to have a comprehensive knowledge of local employment opportunities and encourage and welcome visitors to school to share their knowledge and expertise. Children are able to ask questions about a range of careers and reflect on the skills needed for different jobs. A strong focus on the progression of core skills such as speaking and listening, problem solving, creativity, leadership, teamwork, resilience and aspiration is embedded across the whole school to prepare children for the future.
We have recently participated in the “Start Small;Dream Big” careers project which has helped us to ensure that Careers Related Learning is embedded across our school curriculum from EYFS to Year 6, breaking down stereotypes and bias so that our children can have aspirational career choices. Pupils will be given a wide variety of experiences and opportunities during their time at King Edward Primary School and will be introduced to a wide range of jobs and careers, as well as considering the potential jobs of the future as the world around us continues to change and evolve. We aim to engage and excite our children and give them the tools to be life-long creative, innovative learners with high aspirations and ambitions.
