S&F committee meeting overview 15/07/20

Dear parents / carers

 

The staffing and finance committee have met virtually on a regular basis during these unprecedented times. In our last meeting on 15/07/20 we discussed the reopening of school in September and the staffing arrangements which have been put in place to ensure a safe return of all pupils. The staff and governors are looking forward to welcoming all children back to school in September and detailed appropriate risk assessments have been completed.

 

School Organisation

The committee heard how bubbles will work across school. Arrangements for drop off and collection have been carefully considered which will avoid the need for staggered starts and finishes twice a day. Parents/carers and pupils will only experience slight changes to the norm and all adaptations are age appropriate. Staff will be used creatively in September.  This means that those staff previously used to cover classes during PPA, will now be able to be used differently.  This will enable groups of children to be supported with their learning in response to COVID lockdown.  The committee was taken through the background and reasoning informing all decisions and supported all decisions made by the Leadership Team.

 

Out of School Club

The Leadership Team and OOSC staff have worked together to ensure OOSC will be operational from the first week of term in September. It is recognised how many families depend on OOSC, a facility we are extremely lucky to have. Pupils will be arranged in bubbles as per Government advice. Parents and pupils will only notice minimal changes. To reflect the need to organise bubbles OOSC will need to close at 5.30pm. Governors again heard the background and reasoning informing this decision. The committee supported the decisions made by OOSC staff and the Leadership Team and stated our appreciation for ensuring this service is available to families.

In addition, we discussed, and are pleased to inform you of some building improvements which are taking place. Funding has been secured for essential repairs to the school roof and brand new toilets are being installed for Reception class.
