Year 6 Transition and Leavers Events

In less than 10 teaching weeks we will be saying goodbye to our Year 6 children, as they move on to the excitement of High School.  They have coped fantastically well as a year group with the many challenges that COVID has brought to them in their last two school years here.  Despite COVID constraints we will do our very best to make sure your children have an end of term to enjoy and remember.

I have talked to your children today about some of the challenges of making their Y6 end of term special. But we are determined to make it the positive end of term they deserve, if a little different.  Our Y6 will do a leaver’s assembly as usual, but it will be shared with Y6 parents and the rest of the school virtually, which you will be able to keep and enjoy forever.  Their last week will be as follows.

Monday CSI workshop for Y6F

Tuesday CSI workshop for Y6D

Wednesday Staff vs children sports event

Leavers assembly – Watched in school and shared with Y6 families

Thursday Pizza van lunch

Friday Usual last day of fun and goodbyes

The High School your child is going to should have already been in touch to share with you their plans for transition.  Unfortunately transition visits look highly unlikely to take place, as mixing children from different schools as they usually would pre COVID, is currently not possible.  But I am confident that each High School will do what they can to ensure you and your child feels as prepared as possible, given the challenges of COVID.  If you have not yet heard from your child’s High School then please let us know and we will see if we can help.  If your child has SEND, then their High School has been invited to their upcoming SEND meeting.  In addition we hold detailed meetings with each High School to pass on valuable information about each child in Year 6.

I hope that your children will enjoy the weeks ahead before they leave us.
