Year 4 – High Borrans Adventure – Monday 3rd June 2019 to Friday 7th June 2019

Dear Parent/Carers
During their time at King Edward Primary School we hope that every child will take an opportunity to come with us on an exciting adventure at High Borrans Outdoor Education, near Windermere in the Lake District.
High Borrans is a self-contained centre, in its own grounds, which belongs to North Tyneside Council. The children will get the chance to visit some different parts of the Lake District and try out some expert-led activities, such as canoeing and Ghyll scrambling. They will develop independence, resilience and cooperative skills.
This Summer your child has an opportunity if they wish, to come with us.  The visit is during the school week, the first week back after May half-term.  The children are accompanied by our own staff; they will leave on the Monday morning and return on the Friday afternoon.
Further information about the Centre can be found on their website www.highborrans.org.uk
The overall cost of the week will be £250. This cost covers all transport for the week, food, accommodation, specialist instructors, appropriate equipment etc.
Children who choose not to take up this opportunity will have a creative and bespoke week organised in school.  A range of activities and experiences will be planned for Y4 children who do not visit High Borrans. Plans for the week in school for children who do not choose to visit High Borrans, will be shared with the children nearer the time. Whilst we hope all children who would like a place will be able to go, it may be that more children request a place than High Borrans can physically accommodate.  Should this occur then places are allocated ‘out of a hat’.  Should any children either choose not to go this time or are not successful at being allocated a place, then they will be given priority of a place during any future trips in Y6.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself or the school office.  Should you wish to discuss any payment difficulties, then please contact the office to talk to Kate Byrne in confidence.
If you would like your child to be given the opportunity to attend, then please complete the online form below by Wednesday March 13th.
If your child is successful in their application for this course, you will be notified along with confirmation of dates for deposits, other payment information and any other necessary paperwork.
Yours faithfully,
Alan Henderson
