Update on school meals and vouchers
Familes that are eligible for benefits-related free school meals (FSM)
Thank you to those of you who have already completed the survey yesterday, to let us know that you believe you are eligible for vouchers. This is enabling us to check and confirm who we can generate vouchers for. Can I remind you to complete the survey from the message yesterday. If you believe you are eligible and do not complete the survey, then you may miss out on vouchers.
Vouchers will be generated by the end of next week, for those that we can confirm are eligible.
As they will not be available until later in the week, packed lunches will continue to be available for these families for now. These can be collected from school each day this week. They will not be continued after this week, as vouchers will replace this offer.
Other children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
Families who are not eligible for benefit-related FSM will not receive any vouchers.
However, packed lunches will continue to be available for any children in these year groups, if a family wishes to come and collect them. These replace the ‘daily free school meals’ the Government provides to children in these year groups.
Children of key workers in our childcare
Any children attending our childcare will continue to be given a packed lunch on the days they attend, regardless of their year group. This will not stop vouchers being provided if you are also eligible for benefit-related FSM. This is to prevent children bringing things into our childcare. This is to reduce the risk of germs being spread.
If you have any queries about any of the above, then please email me on kate.byrne@kingedward.org and I will respond to you next week.
