King Edward Primary Working with Go Smarter

We are working with North Tyneside’s Go Smarter team to try
and make the school a safer and healthier place. We would like to get people
travelling actively to school by walking, cycling and scooting so that we can
get healthier bodies and minds. We are trying to make the area around school
safer for all our children by keeping cars away from the school gates. This
will also reduce the pollution we have to breathe in.

To help with that, we are encouraging everyone to cycle,
scoot or walk to and from school if possible as part of Healthy Living Week
next week. We are also having a ‘Car
free day’ at school on Thursday 23rd May. If you can, we
would love it if people could leave their cars at home. If you need to bring a
car please try to park it away from the school.

Dr Bike will be visiting on this day so if you can bring in
your children’s bikes he will check them over and fix things if possible. This
might help get bikes working again and save some money buying a new one! There
will be other fun activities going on in school during the day too.

Thanks for you help!
