Hot Meals Trial

Dear parent /carer

Following the post shared with parents last week, I would like to confirm that we will be beginning a two week trial of hot meals from Monday 12th October.

Who is included in the trial?

Children in Reception and Year 1 will be provided with hot meals during the trial.  This is because children in these year groups are entitled to Universal Free School Meals.  

The trial will not include children in Year 2 as they eat lunch in a different part of school.

What’s on the menu?

During the trial, children will not have the choice of a hot or cold option.  Only a hot option will be provided.  If you would prefer your child to have a cold packed lunch, please send them into school with one.  Due to the logistical difficulties caused by Covid of providing lunches, LA Catering Services are also only offering a limited hot menu in schools across North Tyneside.  To see the full menu, please click here.

What happens at the end of the trial?

At the end of the two week trial, we are hopeful that we will be able to offer hot meals to some additional year groups.  We may even be able to offer hot meals for the whole school.  

Moving forward we would then hope that children would have a choice of a hot or a cold option.  But due to the many logistics of delivering hot food to so many locations across our site due to bubbles, we are starting with this trial and will then be looking to build up the options from there.

We would like to ask that parents continue to support us and LA Catering Services as we seek to deliver hot meals for our children.
