Book Week 2022
Dear parents / carers
Book week is coming up after half term and we have lots of exciting plans to celebrate reading in school!
Dress up for World Book Day
World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March. On this day, we would love for children to come to school dressed as a book character or as a word! Clothing should be warm and appropriate for school.
Book token
All children will be given a £1 book token. This token is redeemable at a range of booksellers which can be found at this link. So why not have a trip to your local bookstore and choose a brand new book with your child!
Book fair
Instead of our usual Scholastics Book Fair, we thought we would go for something new and try out the Books for Bugs virtual book fair. At this book fair, parents will be able to order books online which are delivered to school free of charge in eco-friendly packaging. What’s more, nearly all books are only £2.50! This book fair won’t be available until later in the year, so stay tuned to find out more about this exciting new book fair.
Chris Bostock the Storyteller
We are getting a visit from Chris Bostock the Storyteller on Monday 7th March 2022. Chris is a professional storyteller and will visit all classes in school! For more information, click here.
Story workshop by Bigfoot Arts
Bigfoot Arts will also be in school delivering a story workshop to Nursery, Reception and Year 1 on Monday 28th February. This is an exciting, interactive early years workshop led by specialist staff from Bigfoot Arts Education.
Reading in school
We have a range of fantastic reading activities in school all week from Monday 28th February. Including making a bookmark, short story writing, reading sessions and much more!
Over the last two decades, there has been a deepening recognition of the link between reading standards and children’s achievement and wellbeing. With that in mind, we hope you will continue to support us in encouraging a love of reading in all of our children!
Thank you
