Full Governing Body Meeting – Overview – Autumn Term 1
In the first Full Governing Body (FGB) meeting of this academic year we have worked alongside the Headteacher to support the strategic direction of the school for the coming 12 months. We have agreed a strategic plan and have set milestones for us as Governors, which enable us to monitor the progress of the strategic plan.
The Governors have agreed the strategic areas that they are individually linked to; this enables closer scrutiny of these areas to be carried out throughout the year and reported back to the FGB in greater detail.
We carried out a close inspection of some of the school data and shared our thoughts with the rest of the FGB. This enables us to ask informed questions relating to various cohorts and groups of children across the school.
Our cycle of regular and focused Governor visits to the school have already begun; we have been looking at the new Class Dojo points system and fed back our thoughts to the Headteacher and FGB.
Governors have been given details of the new training available to them to ensure that we are continuing to be the most productive and informed that we can be; this includes training in our own time, workplace and through webinars.
We have agreed the policy cycle which will ensure that the school will remain compliant at all times.
We have been thrilled to learn that the school has gained the School Games Gold Award and shown that we meet the criteria needed to achieve this. We received a fantastic email from John Spence congratulating us and recognising the hard work of Mrs Cunningham and all of the staff that have enabled this to happen.
Finally, I would like to welcome two new members of the Governing Body to our FGB. Mrs Laidler has recently been elected as staff governor. Mrs Caroline Afolabi-Deleu has been appointed as representative of the North Tyneside Learning Trust (NTLT).
