Year 5 – Bikeability

Dear Parent/Carer

We have a fantastic opportunity for your child to attend a free Bikeability level 2 course. The course will involve cycling around the roads near our school and will provide the children with valuable skills on how to cycle safely on our streets. The course will involve qualified trainers from the North Tyneside Bikeablity team. We have 42 places available for our Y5 children (names would be drawn from a hat if too many children signed up).

There are various dates that the training takes place during December and January.  Once you have signed up you will be given a date for your child to take part in the training.  Children will be allocated to groups of 6 or less.  Training takes place during normal school hours.

Children can bring their own roadworthy bike or the Bikeability team does have a fleet of bikes that we can borrow if your child does not have a suitable bike to complete the training.

Children should wear suitable clothing for the weather such as warm clothes fit for cycling including correct fitting helmet.  Gloves, hat, scarves, and waterproofs are a necessity during the winter months.

If you would like your child to take part, please complete the consent form at the following link: https://consent.bikeability.org.uk/pride-empty-about  Please note, this form is managed by Bikeability staff and your details will be shared directly with them.

When you complete the form please be aware that you give permission for your child to be off site undertaking Bikeability level 2 training under the care and supervision of the North Tyneside Bikeability staff and that you know and accept that a member of King Edward staff will not be in attendance.

Should you have any query or difficulty, please contact the teacher in charge – Mrs Cunningham (amanda.cunningham@kingedward.org).

Yours sincerely

Active North Tyneside
