Start of term update
Dear parents and carers,
I hope that you and our children have all had a happy, restful and fun summer break from school. It’s a shame that the weather hasn’t been kinder to us all and I hope that none of you were affected by the Air Traffic Control chaos earlier this week.
Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC)
I just wanted to formally reassure you that the current RAAC issue being covered in the news does not affect our school.
School uniform expectations
Just a polite reminder before our children return on Monday of our school uniform expectations. If anyone needs any support please contact us, as we have pre-loved uniform which may help. Please pay particular attention to what jewelery is acceptable for in school. A reminder that leggings are not acceptable as trousers or for PE. Many thanks for your support as the new term begins. Roofing works and damage in school
Unfortunately it has been a difficult summer. Our planned roofing works, organised by the LA, have not gone as planned for a number of reasons. As well as the works now being significantly behind, some significant damage was sustained inside the school building as a result of the building not being left adequately watertight – as it should have been. This has resulted in various remeidial works needing to take place since flooding took place, in addition to the ongoing roofing works.
School will however be open fully as planned on Monday.
A reminder that we do NOT have an INSET day on Monday and our children return back to school on Monday morning.
Although the inside of school will have had the necessary repairs completed by the end of this weekend, what it does mean though is that there will be ongoing roofing works until early October. This includes scaffolding continuing to be in place on the school site. We are continuing to work closely with the LA and contractors to ensure that the site is safe to all of our children while the roofing works continue to be completed. Works will continue throughout this weekend to ensure school is safe and ready for the return of our children.
Please tell all of our children how much I am looking forward to seeing them all on Monday morning! As are Nigel, Winnie and the whole staff team!
Have a lovely weekend.
Miss Byrne
