School Update

Dear parents and carers,

Thank you all for your patience as we have all settled back into the routines of school life.  It has been an absolute pleasure to have all of your children back in school and to see and catch up with parents and carers as well.  As you’ll know, many things have needed to be done differently due to Covid 19.  We appreciate that some of these changes are tricky, but thank you all for your understanding, support and kind words.  We are currently in the process of reviewing what is working well and also thinking about any tweaks which might be beneficial.

Start of the school day

I am extremely pleased with how well the soft start to the school day is working.  Families are now coming to school nicely spread out, exactly as we hoped.  We will continue to review this.  But at the current time it looks like we will be able to avoid having to have a staggered start to the school day!  So thank you!

However, can I please remind Year 6 that they must all be in to start promptly at 8.45am.   The doors close to the rest of the school by 9.00am.

Lunchtimes

As the weeks have gone on we have made some tweaks to arrangements at lunchtimes.  As a result, lunchtimes are now working well.  Children now all have enough time to eat and to socialise as a result of some minor improvements we have made.

End of the school day

Thank you to everyone for distancing from others within the school yards as you wait to pick your children up.  The different doorways and yards being used are working well for each year group, with enough space for families to spread out.

We are aware of a little bit of congestion outside of school and therefore we would like to make one change.  With immediate effect Year 4 parents/carers are welcome to come into the KS1 school yard to meet their children at the end of the school day.  Please can we ask Year 4 parents to come in through the main school gates and to then walk straight down to the very bottom of the yard beside the Year 4 entrance.  This means that you will have your own space to stand and wait, socially distanced, well away from children and parents in other year groups.

Thank you

Kate Byrne
