Important Information Letter for Parents/Carers

Dear parents and carers,

I have been in touch with the Health Protection Team at Public Health England (PHE) as earlier today we have had confirmation that a child has tested positive for COVID-19.

We have a rigorous system of controls in place in school, including operating in ‘bubbles’, enhanced hygiene and reorganised classrooms.  We have worked closely this morning with the Health Protection Team who have advised us about the infectious period in this particular case. Therefore we have been able to effectively identify the contacts the child has had, and their parents/carers have been contacted. This has resulted in one year group bubble being sent home, under the advice of PHE.  They will now be isolating at home and accessing their school work via the Google Classroom environment.

A contact is defined as any person who, during the infectious period, has had any of the following exposures:

  • A person who lives with or spends significant time in the same household as a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19).
  • Having direct face-to-face contact or direct physical contact with a confirmed case for any length of time.
  • Being less than 1m from a confirmed case for 1 minute or longer.
  • Being less than 2m from a confirmed case for more than 15 mins.
  • Travelling in a small vehicle with a confirmed case.

There are a number of other schools who have also had to close bubbles.  So unfortunately, as we progress through the coming weeks and months, and society and the work environment opens back up, it is highly likely that we will see more cases like this in schools and workplaces.

It has been reassuring to see that the support from the Health Protection Team so far has been good.
