Holidays in Term Time – March 2025
Dear parent / carer
We are writing to ask for your support in being open and honest with us about any absences during term time.
We understand that sometimes families take holidays, trips, or attend important events that fall within the school term. While we are required to follow national guidance and cannot authorise absences for family holidays, we know that parents / carers may still choose to take their child out of school for a range of reasons.
What we ask, above all, is that you communicate with us openly. When we are not told the true reason for a child’s absence, it can place children in a difficult position—often they are caught between what they have been told at home and what they are being asked in school. This can lead to confusion and unnecessary anxiety for the child, and it puts a strain on the trusting relationships we work hard to build with both families and children.
Our priority is always the wellbeing of your child. Working in partnership with you, and maintaining open and honest communication, allows us to support your child in the best way possible.
If you are planning an absence during term time, we ask that you let us know directly and honestly by completing the online absence request form. Even though we are unable to authorise the absence, understanding the situation helps us to support your child and avoid placing them in a difficult position.
Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you
Miss Byrne
