Help our school community stay safe on site

Dear parent / carer

We want everyone in our school community to be safe and happy while using our school site.  With the dark nights now making the site dark before 4.00pm, it has been a good time to review access to our site and at the same time remind you of a few things to keep everyone safe.

Car park

Our car park is for staff and visitors only.  As our parking facilities are very limited, parents should not use the car park during pick-up and drop-off.  The car park should also not be used as a pathway to and from the KS2 yard, and we ask parents/carers to please use the public pathways for everyone’s safety.  If your child walks to school or jumps out of your car and walks in themselves, please could you remind them not to go through the car park in order to stay safe.

Outdoor play equipment

We have a number of external play areas on site.  If your children are playing on equipment at the start or end of the school day, please supervise them carefully to ensure play is safe. Once children have been collected by parents/carers, staff are no longer responsible for their care.

KS1 and KS2 yards

In order to reduce increased wear and tear on the field and play equipment, as well as the dark nights now being so early, our KS2 yard will now be locked shortly after the end of the school day and will not be available for public access.  We ask that you please vacate the yard after collecting your children from school. We are in a very fortunate position that there are a number of public parks close to our school should your children wish to play out after school. Our KS1 yard will remain open to allow access to the school office and for parents/carers collecting children from clubs.

Please can we also remind you that children should not use bikes/scooters in the yards at pick-up and drop-off.  Any dogs brought to school should remain outside and clear of the school gates.

Access to the building

Our school office is open at the start and end of the school day to help in any way we can.  However, after 3.30pm, children will not be allowed back into the building to use the toilet or collect personal items as no supervision is available at this time.  Staff will also be unable to provide first aid except in an emergency.

Our Senior Leadership Team and Governing Body have discussed these few changes at length and we are confident that these small changes will continue to ensure that everyone has access to our site in a safe way.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Yours faithfully
