FGB – Overview June 2025

Dear parent / carer

The Full Governing Body met last week for their final meeting of the school year.  Governors thanked Mrs Miller who has now reached the end of her term of office and look forward to welcoming a new staff representative in the Autumn term.

Mrs Dunn gave a report to the governing body following her recent governor visit to discuss the school’s Climate Friendly Schools initiative.  Many aspects of the action plan have been implemented such as posters around site to discourage idling and monitoring of the schools utilities usage by the Eco Warriors working with the Site Manager.  Thanks to these actions, school is on track to receive the Climate Friendly Schools accreditation.

The recent Ofsted visit and process was discussed at length.  The Chair thanked all staff and leaders for their work and commitment to the school every day and during the inspection process.  The Ofsted inspection report will be shared with all parents / carers once it is published, though this is likely to be after the summer holidays.

Governors were pleased to receive the School Development Partner (SDP) report for the Summer term.  The focus of the visit was maths, art, writing and personal development.  The SDP, Richard Kielty, concluded ‘King Edward Primary School is a school characterised by thoughtful leadership, innovative curriculum development, and a genuine commitment to both academic excellence and community engagement.’

Governors fulfilled statutory duties including:

  • Approval of policies including SEND
  • Review of the governor skills audit
  • Receipt of the School Fund annual accounts audit

Governors would like to thank parents / carers for their support throughout the year.  We wish Y6 all the best for their future education and look forward to welcoming pupils back in September for another successful year.  We hope everyone enjoys a fun and restful summer.

Mrs Hunter

Clerk to the Governors

On behalf of the meeting Chair
