Curriculum & Outcomes Governor Overview February 2025
Dear parent / carer
The Curriculum and Outcomes governor committee met earlier this month for their termly meeting. Mhairi McGowan chaired the meeting.
Mhairi recently visited the school to meet with the Literacy Leader. Mhairi gave a detailed account of her visit which related to the school’s approach to writing. Leaders have created new planning to further strengthen this area of the curriculum across school.
Governors heard about an oracy project being undertaken by school which emphasises the importance of conversation. This project is linked to recent research by the Education Endowment Foundation.
The Eco Schools Leader is embarking on a project to obtain the climate friendly schools award. The project will further enhance the school’s commitment to being eco friendly with a number of new or improved initiatives such as:
- A new no idling campaign
- Investigation of solar panels
- Further emphasis on sustainable travel to school
- Eco tips on ‘X’
- Greening up classrooms with donated houseplants
Governors discussed the school’s Behaviour Policy in detail. The Headteacher and a governor will undertake further work to align the policy with the school’s ethos before sharing a revised draft with the wider school community.
