Christmas at King Edward Primary School 2023!

Dear parent / carer

 

Although you may already be familiar with upcoming events from our Advance Diary Dates, we want to share more detailed plans with you to make the season merry!  Please read below to see what we have in store to get our children, staff and parents / carers in the holiday spirit.

 

Christmas Dinner

 

Christmas Dinner Day will be on Wednesday 20th December.  Please CLICK HERE to see our menu and to pre order your child’s dinner (not available if your child is in Nursery for AM or PM only sessions).  Pre ordering is required – please order by Friday 15th December.  The Christmas menu replaces the usual menu offer for the day and no other menu options will be available.

If your child has a food allergy or intolerance and does not already have an agreed special menu, please contact the office before taking up the lunch offer.  

 

Christmas Jumper Day

 

Children are invited to come into school on Wednesday 20th December in their Christmas Jumper and non uniform.  What better way to dress for Christmas Dinner!?  

 

Christmas Performances

 

Nursery Christmas Nativity – Parents / carers are invited to come and watch our Nursery Nativity on Friday 15th December.  The morning Nursery performance will begin at 10.00am.  The afternoon Nursery performance will begin at 1.45pm.  Performances will be held in the Early Years Hall.  Entrance via the Year 1 door (ramp in KS1 yard).  

 

Reception-Year 1 Christmas Production – Reception parents / carer are invited to come and see the production on Wednesday 13th December.  Year 1 parents / carers are invited to come and see the production on Thursday 14th December.  Both productions start at 2.00pm.  Performances will be held in the gym.  Entrance via the community room doors (KS1 yard).  All Reception children and Year 1 narrators should wear their Christmas jumpers on the production days.  

 

Year 2-Year 3 Christmas Performance – Year 2 parents / carers are invited to come and see our Year 2-3 Production on Monday 11th December.  Year 3 parents / carers are invited to come and see our Year 2-3 Production on Tuesday 12th December.  Songs will begin at 2.30pm.  Performances will be held in the gym.  Entrance via the community room doors (KS1 yard).  All children should wear their Christmas jumpers on the performance days.   

 

Year 4-Year 6 Christmas Service – The Christmas Services will be held at St Augustin’s Church in North Shields.  Parents / carers of children in 4O, 4LW and 5T are invited to attend on Friday 8th December.  Parents / carers of children in 5D, 6L and 6IB are invited to attend on Friday 15th December.  Both services start at 9.30am.  If you would like to contribute towards the cost of heating at St Augustin’s Church for our practices and performances, please bring a small amount of cash to add to the church collection plate on the day.  All children should wear their Christmas jumpers on the service days.   

 

Christmas Parties

 

The end of the Autumn term is Christmas party time for all our children!  Children can come to school in non-uniform/party clothes on the day of their party; though we ask that they are dressed suitably for the cold December weather.  Parties take place during the school day after lunch.  Small refreshments will be provided and dietary requirements will be catered for.

Nursery (AM and PM) – Monday 18th December

Reception – Tuesday 19th December 

Year 1 – Thursday 21st December

Year 2 – Friday 15th December

Year 3 – Monday 18th December

Year 4 – Tuesday 19th December

Year 5 – Wednesday 20th December

Year 6 – Thursday 21st December

 

School Holiday Dates

 

Our final day in school is Friday 22nd December.  Children are welcome to come to school on this day in non-uniform.  We have an INSET (teacher training day) on Monday 8th January and school will be closed to children and parents / carers.  School resumes on Tuesday 9th January 2024!
