Change of INSET day to Monday 22nd November 2021
Dear parents/carers,
Since we set the INSET days for this academic year we have made a decision to adopt a new reading approach in school. The reason for this change in approach is that in July, the DfE brought out new guidance for schools about the teaching of reading and phonics, based on the latest research.
As a result of considering and responding to this latest guidance, we have made the decision at our Governing Body Meeting last week, to move our March INSET date forward to Monday November 22nd. This is because it is essential that our whole staff team has quality training in the new reading approach we are going to take.
We apologise for any inconvenience changing the date may cause, but we have chosen this date to give you more than a month of notice. I hope you understand the importance of our staff team having this training as soon as possible. This will mean that we can implement the new approach for our children as soon as possible.
