Governors Staffing and Finance Committee Meeting Overview
The Staffing and Finance Committee met virtually to discuss all aspects of Staffing and Finance. We discussed at length the schools Pupil Premium Strategy, it is a statutory requirement that schools complete a plan as to how they will support pupils who are eligible for Pupil Premium. Governors approved of the detailed and thorough plan and felt it carefully considered the needs of the pupils. The Pupil Premium Strategy will be published on the school website.
We went on to discuss the schools Covid Catch Up Plan. All schools are to receive funding to support pupils who would benefit from additional interventions. Staff have carefully analysed pupils needs through assessment and observation and appropriate interventions are now in place. The school continues to react to the needs of the children, making sure they receive appropriate support.
A number of policies linked to staffing and finance were reviewed and ratified.
Covid-19 continues to present many challenges to us all, it is hard at times to remember a time before Covid 19. School continues to effectively manage issues around staff absence due to testing, isolation etc. Staff within school are used to cover classes when needed to keep transition to a minimum. There are some changes in staffing which are unavoidable. Children and families are always informed of the changes at the earliest opportunity.
Discussion was held regarding the Friday afternoon arrangements. Current arrangements continue to work well in school. Feedback from pupils has been very positive, they are happy with the current arrangements. Staff remain within school every Friday afternoon preparing / planning lessons and completing assessments. It was agreed that we woud discuss Friday afternoon arrangements at every Staffing and Finance Committee meeting.
The committee also discussed a recent risk assessment of trees. All the trees within the grounds are safe and no work is needing done to them. As part of the assessment trees in the immediate vicinity of the school were also assessed. Some issues were identified and as such some trees will need to be removed for safety reasons. Obviously we would rather keep these magnificent trees but the need to keep our children safe is paramount.
