Full Governing Body overview November 2025
Dear parent / carer
The Full Governing Body met last week for the second meeting of the year. Governors were pleased to hear that a number of candidates expressed an interest in the role of parent governor leading to two applications being submitted. The FGB looks forward to welcoming its new member following the conclusion of the current election by parent ballot.
The government have recently updated their guidance on school uniform affordability. Governors reviewed this guidance and were pleased to see that it aligns with school’s existing uniform policy. School recently hosted a very successful ‘pre-loved uniform giveaway’ and pre-loved uniform is also available from the Kallax unit in the main entrance at all times. We sell our own branded uniform from the school office on a Monday between 3.30pm and 5.00pm. Governors heard that due to new statutory guidance, all schools are required to have procedures in place for ‘lockdown’ and ‘invacuation’. These procedures outline how school will keep children safe should they need to be locked within the building. This could occur if there is a dangerous intruder in or near the school grounds but may also occur in other extreme emergency situations such as a terrorist attack or other criminal activity. The procedures include a ‘drill’ whereby the lockdown will be practiced with children in much the same way as fire evacuation procedures are practiced. We would like to reassure parents / carers that this will be done in a very calm and reassuring way as we in no way wish to alarm children. Such practices will become commonplace and regular and therefore not ‘out of the ordinary’.
