Full Governing Body Overview – September 2025
Dear parent / carer
Governors would like to welcome all children and parents / carers back to King Edward Primary for another school year!
In the first Full Governing Body meeting of the year Jonathan Heath was elected for another term as Chair and Mhairi McGowan was elected as Vice Chair for the first time. Governors welcomed new Co-Opted member and staff representative, Claire Baldwin.
Governors were pleased to hear of a number of accreditations awarded to the school. These are the result of significant hard work over the previous year by staff and children. The accreditations received are:
- Platinum Games Award
- Silver Artsmark Award
- Climate Friendly School Award
Following the inspection by Ofsted in the Summer term, the final inspection report was shared with governors. Governors were delighted that the school has attained an ‘Outstanding’ grading in ‘Early Years Provision’ and ‘Behaviour and Attitudes’. The report states: ‘Pupils are full of enthusiasm about their experience at this happy and caring school. Pupils are well supported by staff. Pupils demonstrate excellent attitudes to their learning. There are high expectations for everyone to succeed. Pupils rise to these expectations and many achieve highly.’
Governors fulfilled statutory duties including:
- Approval of policies including Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Review of the annual safeguarding audit
- Declaration of pecuniary interests
