FGB overview May 2025

Dear parent / carer

The Full Governing Body met this week for their half termly meeting.

Governors heard about an Artsmark accreditation that is being undertaken.  This project, which celebrates the 800th anniversary of North Shields, has led to some inspirational artwork being created by children across school.  Artwork will be displayed at North Tyneside General Hospital.  We are also planning a showcase in school for parents / carers to see this exceptional work.  Further details of the event to follow in due course.

Governors received a new DfE report on attendance showing attendance at KEPS compared to similar schools.  The report was very positive with KEPS scoring highly in all areas.  Parents / carers can help their children attain and achieve their very best by continuing to support a commitment to attend all possible school sessions unless their child is unwell.  This includes not booking holidays during school term time.  To find out more about the importance of good attendance, click here.

As many of you may be aware, we are currently in the middle of Year 6 SATs week with children taking statutory examinations from Monday to Thursday.  A parent governor praised our no-pressure approach to SATs.  At KEPS, we aim to support all children to achieve without adding stress for our Year 6 children.

Governors fulfilled statutory duties including:

  • Approval of policies including Data Protection

The FGB will meet again in the second half of the summer term for their final meeting of the academic year
