Free and Low-Cost Children’s Meals for Summer 2026

  • 100% FREE Breakfasts: Both adults and kids can get a free bowl of Kellogg’s cereal, milk, and fruit at Morrisons Cafés before 11:00 am (no purchase required, runs until 6 September). £1 Meals (No adult spend needed)
  • Kids eat for £1 all day, every day at Asda Cafés (includes a free piece of fruit).
  • Tesco Cafés: Kids eat completely free all week long if you scan a Tesco Clubcard and buy any small adult item (even a 60p piece of fruit!).
  • Sainsburys: Kids meals are £1 when an adult spends £5.20+
  • Morrisons Café: Under 16s with a paying adult over £5 can choose from a selection of kids’ meals free OR get two free kids’ meals with two adult mealsfor£15.
  • Toby Carvery: Kids eat for £1 throughout the Summer with any adult main or all you can eat breakfast.
  • Flaming Grill Pubs: Kids eat free with one paying adult over the summer holidays.
  • Victors: Children under 12 can choose 2 courses on the kids’ menu on a weekday for free when accompanied by a full-price paying adult.
  • Las Iguanas: Kids dine for free all day, with the purchase of any main meal.
  • Bella Italia: Claim a free 3-course kids’ meal with any adult purchasing a main meal.

 

Low-Cost Groceries in North Tyneside

  • The Bread & Butter Thing: Get £35 worth of fresh fruit, veg, and chilled food for just £7.50. Hubs run weekly in Longbenton, Shiremoor, Whitley Bay, Howdon and Billy Mill.  To sign up, text your name and post code to 07507 237 311.
  • Meadow Well (North Shields): The Nourish Store at The Cedarwood Trust lets you fill a shopping basket with fresh items and cupboard staples for just £4 to £6. Open Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm.
  • Wallsend High Street: Tyneside Community Store offers heavily discounted food and household goods, plus a free baby bank for parents who need items. Open Monday to Saturday, 9:30am–2:30pm.
  • Whitley Bay: Whitley Bay Big Local (Whitley Road) runs a surplus food shop Monday to Friday, 10am–4pm. You can pick up groceries on a pay-what-you-can basis.
  • For adults who may need some extra mental health support during the summer holidays The Anchorage is an NHS Safe Haven, they are open every day of the year from 2pm until 10pm, there is no need to book an appointment. Adults can access mental health support from trained professionals in a safe and welcoming environment. The Anchorage is a short 5-minute walk from Wallsend Metro station.
