Uniform

At King Edward Primary School, we want to help our children feel proud to wear their school uniform.  We believe uniform is more economical and practical and also fosters a sense of belonging.  We are happy to say that this policy is very well supported by all of our parents.

All badged items are available to buy at the school office along with other school items such as book bags.  We sell uniform from the school office every Monday from 3.30pm-5.00pm (card payments preferred).  This is the only time you can purchase uniform from the office.  If you are unable to come into school at this time, you can send a clearly marked envelope with the correct money into school and we will send the requested uniform home with your child.

We host a 'uniform swap' for the exhange of pre-loved uniform twice a year in January and July.  On uniform swap days, bring any uniform that is no longer wanted but in good condition to the gym at drop off (8.45-9.15am).  Return again at the end of the school day (3.00-3.30pm) to pick up any items you require!  We advertise the dates in advance.

If at any point you are struggling financially with the cost of uniform, please contact Mrs Miller or Miss Byrne.  We will be happy to speak with you confidentially and support you in any way we can.

School Uniform

It is essential that all clothing and equipment is named.

PLEASE NOTE: Good quality pre-loved uniform is always available in our school entrance.  Please hep yourself - there is no need to ask.

  • Grey skirt, pinafore, trousers / shorts, tights (leggings are not school uniform)
  • Royal blue school cardigan or sweatshirt (not navy blue)
  • Pale blue polo shirt
  • Checked blue dress (summer optional)
  • Nursery uniform is as above except children wear a red school sweatshirt / cardigan / polo shirt / checked dress

Please note that multi-coloured dip-dye hair is not allowed.

PE Uniform

Navy blue jogging bottoms, royal blue shorts, pale blue t-shirt, trainers or sand shoes.  Children should come to school in their full PE kit on PE day with joggers worn over shorts.  School jumpers should be worn over the PE t-shirt.

Footwear

Children should wear sensible black shoes with low heels.  If any shoes are felt to be unsuitable or with a heel, children will be asked to put on sandshoes whilst at school.  During winter, children are asked to change into normal school footwear if they come to school in winter boots that are not suitable for all daywear.

Jewellery

We ask that children do not wear jewellery in school.  If ears are pierced, one pair of very small studs may be worn.  However, children must be able to take earring out themselves to take part in PE.  It is not acceptable for children to wear an Elastoplast over their ears.  This is for Health and Safety reasons.

Children may wear simple activity trackers with no wifi connectivity.  Other wearable technology such as iWatches cannot be worn in school. During PE lessons, pupils must remove any stud earrings, watches and activity trackers.  Any items are worn at parents risk and school is not liable for loss, damage or injury as a result.
